Amera HES Recertification 2026–2031

June 9, 2026

The Amera Head End System (HES) was successfully recertified on January 15, 2026, for another five years. The independent audit confirms that the system meets all data security requirements for smart metering systems. The Amera HES ensures end-to-end encrypted communication across various communication architectures. These include point-to-point connections via LTE or FTTH and mesh-based networks that communicate via G3 PLC in both the FCC and Cenelec A bands, which are connected via Amera HES data concentrators. This ensures that measurement data is securely transmitted and processed at all times, regardless of the communication technology used.

With this successful recertification, the Amera Head End System reaffirms its role as a long-term, secure, and regulatory-compliant platform for the Swiss smart meter rollout. For network operators, this means a high degree of investment security as well as the assurance that their infrastructure meets the current and future requirements of the digital energy world. At the same time, a certified and secure communication platform lays the foundation for future smart grid applications and the further digitalization of the Swiss electricity market.
