Frequently Asked Questions

What types of ensor meters are available?

ensor offers two types of electricity meters:

-eRS801 Direct-reading
-eRS301 Transducer meter

The eRS801 direct reading meter is available in various combinations. To select the right meter, three important questions should be clarified in advance:

  1. Is a shutdown unit required?
  2. Do you need G3 PLC communication?
  3. Is the FAST version or drawbar clamps connection type desired?
What does FAST mean on Semax meters?

FAST is a term used to describe an electricity meter that has permanently integrated contact pins for the mains connection or plug-in terminals. This means that the pins no longer need to be aligned and fastened manually, which significantly reduces the time required for the rollout process. This in turn increases efficiency when replacing meters.

How long is the warranty on the meters and modules?

For everyone Semax electricity meters and communication modules, the legally prescribed warranty period of 2 years applies to all Semax electricity meters and communication modules. This warranty reliably covers material and manufacturing defects. Upon request, the warranty period can be extended for an additional charge. A warranty extension offers additional security. Please feel free to contact us if you would like a warranty extension or have further questions about the warranty.

Can a shutdown unit be retrofitted?

No, a breaker cannot be retrofitted.

What can be retrofitted on an eRS801 meter?

Communication module
M8-100 LTE

Relays (max. 4x 4 amps)
S0 interface (2 pieces)

How many amps (continuous power) can the eRS801 handle?

The eRS801 is designed for a continuous output of 100 amperes (100A) as standard. In its construction site meter version, the eRS801 is even designed for up to 120 amperes (120A).

How does the customer interface on the smart meter work and what can it be used for?

Information on technology, application, access authorization, and available standard products can be found on the official information platform for the smart meter customer interface at www.smart-metering-interface.ch.

Is there a wireless module that supports 4G (LTE)?

Yes, the M8-100 radio module is available for the eRS801 and the M3-100 radio module for the eRS301. The description of the communication modules can be found on our website under Meters > Communication.

Is there a broadband powerline module for the ensor meter?
